Summer is in full bloom and so are the wild flowers. Creating bouquets with wildflowers is a wonderful way to incorporate the natural beauty of the outdoors from your local area into your floral arrangements. Wildflowers offer a unique charm and variety that cultivated flowers often lack. Their diverse shapes, colors, and textures can make each bouquet distinct and vibrant, reflecting the untamed beauty of nature. Moreover, using wildflowers can be an economically friendly especially if you pick them from local areas.
When designing a wildflower bouquet, consider the combination of colors and textures to create a balanced and visually appealing arrangement. Start by choosing a few focal flowers, such as sunflowers or daisies, which will serve as the main attraction of the bouquet. Then, add filler flowers like Queen Anne’s lace or baby’s breath to provide volume and support. Incorporating greenery, such as ferns can add depth and contrast to the bouquet. Remember to vary the heights and sizes of the flowers to create a dynamic and layered effect.
Wildflower bouquets are perfect for a variety of occasions, from casual gatherings to a family dinner. They bring a sense of peacefulness and freshness that is both charming and cozy. Whether you are creating a bouquet for a dinner with a guest family, a gift for a friend, or simply to brighten up your home, wildflowers can add a touch of natural elegance and beauty. Always ensure that you are harvesting wildflowers from areas that are public, respecting local regulations and preserving the natural habitats from which they come.
My favorite way to display wildflowers is in good old mason jars. The mason jars give off that cozy cottage feel which I love. You can use quart, 1/2 gallon or full on gallon size. Another way I like to display them is in vintage pitchers like the one in the picture. You can also use old vases, galvinized containers, or a small bucket.
To keep your wild flowers fresh use clean fresh water, add a small amount of Miracle grow to the water, and I use 2 drops of Purification essential oil which has the ability to cut down on bacteria and keep them fresher longer. They will last me up to a whole week. I do refresh the water (same as above) at least one time to ensure freshness.
So grab your kitchen scissors and a bucket put on your walking shoes and go out to your local area and pick yourself a bouquet of wild flowers. While you are out there take time to thank God for His beauty in nature.
