I had no idea that one day I would love being a homemaker. My story (the short version) goes like this. You see at age 18 my life was going a whole other direction but God in His infinite mercy within 3 years of sending people to speak to me changed my life’s course. I married my husband at age 21 and we had our first child that next year. I went to back to work for 2 months and would cry as I pumped my breast milk in the bathroom there. I went home and asked my husband if I could quit. You see I had a heart change and this mom wanted to be home. Of course he said yes and 15 years later we had our 7th child. We have 5 boys and 2 girls. God also laid it in my heart to homeschool in 1989 and so it began 27 years of home educating our kids. I loved those years. He also slowly opened my eyes to natural living and after delivering 6 children in hospitals and being frustrated every time to fight to have the most natural child birth they would let me we decided to have a home birth with our last son ( he is 27 now) . Let me tell you how I wished I would have done that for all the others but I did give birth to them all on my own, no drugs, and breast feed each one, such sweet times. Those years of raising a family of 7 on one income was not easy I have many “trial” stories but can I say it was worth it. So here I am a grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 2 more on the way. This blog, The Apron Society is my way of sharing my love of watching well over my home and not eating the bread of idleness ( Proverb 31:27). The name comes from my real life I love wearing aprons you can ask all my kids ( and grandchildren) I have had one on all the time at home. I now make my own (check them out on my apron page). May God reward the fruit of your hands.
